I wasn't going to write about this, as it was after all a simply friendly, but such was the volume of emails and texts from Spurs supporting 'friends' delighted in such an important victory for them, it seems rude not to indulge their petty victories.
I'll make it clear, friendlies are pretty meaningless, Spurs after all spanked Roma in their pre-season last year before gaining two points from eight. Yes, it would have been nice to win, but I am far from devastated about the result, although no doubt a short drive around Tottenham would see banners and flags being un-furled as they celebrate their big club status.
As it was, Spurs deserved the win, they were fitter and sharper, as a team fresh from facing Barcelona and Celtic should be. The Hammers did not look great, but why would we want them to peak now, when the season is more than a couple of weeks away? With a small squad, we could do without Cole or Parker desperately chasing a 50/50 and doing a hamstring. We lost Boa-Morte anyhow with a suspected cruciate ligament injury. Jimenez looked interesting, a bit lightweight but a nice touch. Collison played well and that was probably about it. We lost a friendly, don't panic just yet, and if you're a Spurs fan, don't count your chickens just yet my friends....

whether its a friendly match or a prem match.....whether you face our acdemy, reserve or 1st team, you just cant get a result against us...6 points again next season lads! cheers.

Poor Hammers.
As shit today as always have been.
Posted by: fuzzy dunlop | 29/07/2009 at 16:21
What!! I've been getting shit from my West Ham mates about how shit we were against Celtic and how your lot were gonna spank us! Should have been 4 or 5 - 0

Ummmm Spurs may not of played brilliantly but i must say that the Hammers looked a shambles.
It might not be important to you, but for all the Hammers fans who travelled to watch them play, it was important enough to warrant a decent performance from the team, which never came, what a waste of time and money

I know the spammers would be gloating if they'd won.

well i dont think zola went all that way to lose or play badly. am a spurs fan and was surprised at the lack of cohesive play from the hammers, they usually pass the ball pretty well, friendly or not,
the game was totally one way, with spurs pulling all the strings, and should have won comfortably by 4 or 5 goals,
west ham were panicky and hurried, and they had been training in beijin for a few days,
am sure zola will get it right sooner than later, as west ham finished the season quite strongly, as a spurs fan it was pleasing to see our patients in open play and hard work off the ball, gud luck in the season coming to all spurs and west ham fans, we pay alot of money to watch these prem players , they shud respect that

Bloody hell. What is the matter with you stupid West Ham fans. Everytime we beat you, you seem to unearth a new excuse completely unrelated to your performance. We thoroughly deserved all 6 points last season and this meaningless friendly wasn't so meaningless before kick-off. Your fans pipe things before every game and then when you lose you try to reduce the importance of the gain. Just have the grace to say Tottenham were the better side, end fcuking of. We had no centre backs out there today, only landed in yesterday, played with two pint-sized strikers all second half etc etc. Everyone can muster up an excuse when needed, however, the trick behind football is being prepared for these circumstances but unfortunately for you lot, you are such a small side, an injury here and there or not being 100% fit completely destroys your ability to win.

Yeah Hammers played their normal game today, they were absolutely abissmal. You can make all the sarcastic comments you will but the fact remains it looks like another easy six points this season. Yes Tottenham had a poor start last year but still managed to finish in eighth, you probably thought you had a great season?

Mate, wake up, no excuses we was sh*t. spuds deserved to win. I appreciate they have had a couple of 'proper' games and it was our first but no more excuses. If I pretend it's all ok I'll sound as deluded as everyone knows spuds are normally. But not today, they were better than us, we were rubbish and if we don't get it sorted pretty soon we'll be as crap as spuds were half of last season.
And if we had won I would be gloating and shoving it in their faces too.

I luv the spammers, It was business as usual another easy win!!! how many points start do you need this season to try and finish above us. Stuff that up your chairmans arse.
Posted by: Superspur | 29/07/2009 at 17:21
Well, two seasons ago we finished above you and last season we finished on the same points, so probably not very many eh Superspur?

Lost your cup final on Beijing. Thats a long way to go for your annual defeat. Look as your our nursery keep up the good work - Collison Cole Defoe Carrick. Im sure Harry will help keep the scores close next season eg 4nil / 4nil. ps Your chairmain is a pikey bell end.

Really? spurs fans going on about it ? I couldnt care less that we beat you today, its only a bloody friendly. What I am happy about is that we looked sharp, dedicated and surprisngly up for it considering the lack of rest/sleep that the squad had.No there won't be any banners or a DVD (ha-ha) because beating West Ham is expected, no matter what competition were playing you in. Im sure if WH had won (lol) the content of this post would be along the lines of WH rule ,spurs to get relegated BLAH BLAH. Get a life you WUM.

By all accounts spurs should have won about 6 - 0. That fits in with what I was saying yesterday!
1 - Man City
20 - west ham
I actually genuinely feel quite sorry for you guys. There are three quality teams in London and then there's......you.

Jimanez looked shite. Only positive was lbm injury.
Posted by: LittleIronJimmy | 29/07/2009 at 22:51
M Spears - who exactly is our chairman that you have such an issue with??
PS. Last 10 seasons, Spurs have finished on avergae just over 10th and West Ham just under 10th so dont see any evidence of your superiority. Taking into account your greater resources it's actually quite pathetic how poorly you have done!
Having said that you did play us off the park last night - whoop didoo!

i think spurs fans need to remember what happened last year after such an 'amazing' pre season...you were botton of the league. and had to buy your way out of it...typical yids
