West Ham transfer round up

Well, the usual filler has appeared over the weekend and today....Reo-Coker may be sitting down at the humble pie shop as Villa have cooled their interest.....following a multi-million pound takeover and the appointment of a former England manager, it's only natural that Man City's first signing could be, erm, Marlon Harewood, Tribal Football reckon we are after Wigan's Baines but I don't see any business being done between those clubs.....and we've been linked with Shaun Wright Phillips again, are you coming or not fella?!

A Bridge too far?

Seems like the papers are linking us with Chelsea's Wayne Bridge today.  Another one of those who sit in Chelsea's footballing graveyard until they are re-born because of injury, Bridge made a successful comeback from 8 months out with an injury to compete for his place against Cheryl Tweedy's Ashley Cole.  bridge is a very capable, skilled left back and I would welcome him shoring up the back at Upton Park and at 27 years old, still has a good few years in front of him.  £4-£7 millon would seem a fair price.

Martin Samuel on the West Ham affair

As a blogger I like to consider myself a writer of, well, readable quality.  However, I bow down before Martin Samuel, who wrote in the Times yesterday on the West Ham/Sheff Utd affair and summed up my feelings on the matter superbly.  Thanks for the article Martin, it really is a corker and I advise everyone to read it here.

Arbitration decision day gets nearer for West Ham

Today is the day the arbitration panel that will begin deliberations as to whether the original panel went through the correct procedures to arrive at their decision to fine West Ham £5.5million and not deduct points.  Contrary to popular belief, this panel cannot reverse the decision, merely advise that the decision was taken in the wrong way.  The panel is expected to come to a decision on Wednesday and I will post as soon as it happens.

I'm really hoping the panel put this to bed and that the whinging Sheff Utd will finally accept that West Ham did not send them down, they did it themselves.

Bobby Zamora arrested

Bobby Zamora has been arrested for allegedly trying to avoid a speeding ticket by getting a friend to claim that he was driving, according to the Guardian newspaper.  You can read more about the arrest here but having started to look forward to a clean start to next season and the bad days of last season out behind us, this is not exactly the greatest start!

Spurs are more Bent than West Ham

Well, a couple of days is a long time in the blogosphere and it would appear that Darren Bent will not now be joining the Hammers and word is he will join Spurs on 1st July.  Quite what he sees in that bingo club I am not quite sure, but I don't want a player who does not want to wear our colours and as I said previously, he is a rather over-priced player.  So the search for a striker continues....Torres anyone?

West Ham Get Bent

Word is it is looking like we are winning the race for Darren Bent's signature, which is nice if only get one over on Spurs.  I'm not as crazy on Dazza as alot of other people but my friend at the Charlton Blog totally rates him and he is usually very honest about his own players.  However, Bent, Ashton and Zamora represent a formidable strike force that no central defenders would fancy and if he pops up with at least 15 goals, then it will be money well spent.

Richard says what he really thinks about the Faroe Islands vs Scotland game, wonder what he's gonna make of Derby v Wigan next season?  Not entirely safe for work....

Dean Ashton update

Deano has been making some encouraging noises over his long-awaited comeback.  For those who did not study history at school, Deano is a striker who was inured back in the 1800s by ye olde Wright-Phillips whilst preparing for a friendly against the Ottoman Empire.  His awaited comeback in January did not materialise but he is lookking forward to the next season, stating "I can definitely say that, by the start of the season, I will easily be the fittest and strongest I've ever been - that really excites me".

It excites us too Deano, it really does.....

Scott Parker's in....

So Scotty has officially signed, as I've already stated, a great signing and look forward to him becoming a Hammers legend.  We seem to be playing hardball on a £7m offer for Real-Conker which is a little surprising.  For a player that cost half a million and clearly wants to leave, I think this is a not unreasonable offer for him.  Quite amusing that the man who wanted to move to a 'big club' will settle for life at the Villa, goes to show what good sulking does for you.

I must confess to being relieved that Joey Barton has signed for Newcastle United.  There is no doubt he is a quality player, but there are clear questions over the effect he has on team spirit, like Bellamy I think he would have upset the apple cart too much.

Word is that Anton will be staying with us, at least until his court case has been settled, let's hope we see some of the form he showed late last season and gets back into growing into the class player he still could become.
