Newton made to look a Charlie....

Shaun has been suspended from football for 7 months, following the failure of a drugs test after the FA Cup Semi Final game when we beat Boro.  Shaun tested positive for cocaine, and although it is understood to have been used recreationally, it is also a performing enhancing drug.  The ban starts from the time that Shaun was suspended by the Club, which was 20th May.  At the moment it looks like the club will stand behind Shaun, however, should he fail naother test in the future, he'll probably be heading for the sign marked exit.

Hopefully Shaun will seek rehabilitation for his usage and come back and play a part in our championship push!

Cole signs....Zamora to go?

West Ham have signed 22 year old striker Carlton Cole from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.  For one so young, Cole has already become a bit of a journeyman of the Premiership, having had spells at Charlton and Aston Villa as well.

There is no dobut Cole is an exciting individual with some great pace and an eye for goal, though one also has to say he is quite similar to the stock of strikers West Ham already has.  For the forthcoming season, I imagine Teddy's role to be diminished with a few sub apperances and cup games.  This still leaves us with Ashton and Harewood to start and with Teddy on the bench, where does that leave 'our' Bobby?  He's improved as a player, there's no doubt, but you just get the feeling he's not quite got it for the Premiership week in and week out.  There has been gossip linking him to Palace and others and I wouldn't be surprised to see him moving on.  Watch this space....
